Dreams In Awakness Ch.1

Her pen slid down the page, leaving a streak of black ink down the perviously pure white peice of paper. She blinked a few times and stared at the long, ugly mark. She frowned a bit. Then she crumbled the page up and through it at the wall across from her. She sighed quietly and stared down at the hem of her white dress. Little drops of the same black ink danced around the bottom, taunting her with every step. She turned and looked at the big, locked door in the corner of her room.
When would it open and which monster would walk through it? It was an everlasting question; would the one to enter be one of the monsters that always watched her, or would it be the one boy who kept her awake thinking about him? She shook her head. If she thought about him, she would never escape this terrible nightmare she lived in. She could only escape this dream through her slep, where real life was there to comfort her. Deeams were a living hell while real life was the cushion waiting to save her. She almost never slept though, she just lived through her never ending nightmare.
She glanced around her room. It had a white carpet -which she was sitting on- white walls, and a small white bed in the corner. There were also 2 white book shelves, sitting side by side. They were filled with books that gave the room it's only color other than the black that laced the paper scattered around the floor. She laid her pen down, and stood. She walked over to one of the shelves and pulled a large book with pale, beige binding off. The title read, "The Collective Works of Edger Allen Poe" She flipped the book open and reached the desired page by memory.

Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me anow-
You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream,
Yet if hope has flown away
In night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.
I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand-
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep- while I weep
O God! can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?

She finished reading the poem and shut the book, slidding it back into the correct spot on the shelf. Edger Allen Poe was her favorite. She could tell he was a person, and not a big, black monster like most people. She walked over to her white bed and sat down, a sigh escaping her lips. She grabbed her old teddy bear and hugged him to her chest. His fur used to be a beautiful, shining walnut brown, but over the years it had faded. It was now almost beige, but his deep brown eyes still held the life that they had when she first got him.
Her mother had gotten the bear for her when she was but 3 years old. How old was she now? She pondered the question for a moment before coming up with a conclusion. 17. She was 17 years old, and had been locked up in the white room since she was 10. That would make it 7 years that she had been there. She frowned a little. That also means that it had been 7 years since she had seen her mother.
She shook the thought away. How strange for her to think of her mother just now. She never even saw her in her sleep when she sunk into the glorious sweetness or real life. She decided to think of something different, so she let her mind wander. She wound up think about one of her favorite stories, "Alice in Wonderland." She wondered if there truely was a beautiful world such as Wonderland past the big, locked door that kept her seperated from the outside world. There was another door in her room, but that one simply led to her small bathroom. There was no magical realms hidden behind that door.
She sighed softly and flopped on her back. There wasn't much to do inside her small, white room, and normally that didn't bother her. Today though, it seemed boredom and curiosity were getting the best of her. She walked over to the big door, and pulled on it a bit. She then fell backwards as it opened.
She looked up from the floor and saw him standing there. The one she tried so hard not to think about. He was staring down at her. She blinked her crystal blue eyes a few times and the looked away, a light blush rising to her pale cheeks. He extended a hand to her as an offer to help her up before speaking, "Hello there Chance. What were you doing so close yo the door?" She took his hand, and he helped her up. He stepped farther inside, and shut the door which clicked shut behind him.
This really isn't as long as I would like it to be, but for a first chapter (and in my mind a pilot) for a new story I guess it's alright.

I'm sorry if this confuses you, but that's what it's supposed to do. All the chapters in this story is going to be based on poems and paragraphs from stories by Poe. Tell me what you guys think please!!!
